In any efficient pyrolysis operation, efficient pretreatment is the foundation for improving the output and overall efficiency of pyrolysis plant. The design and requirements of a pyrolysis reactor directly influence how raw materials should be prepared. The specific requirements for raw materials vary greatly depending on the waste type and pyrolysis plant technology, which is why we offer a range of specialized pre-treatment equipment tailored to diverse feedstock.
Pre-treatment for Tire Pyrolysis
Tires present a challenge due to their composition, involving rubber, steel, and fabric, requiring several preparatory steps to remove components that can hinder the pyrolysis reaction and damage equipment.
Wire Drawing Machine: This machine extracts the steel belting from tires. Removing steel wires beforehand prevents unnecessary abrasion inside the pyrolysis reactor and enhances the overall pyrolysis process.

Ring Cutting Machine: For truck and OTR tires, this equipment removes the heavy steel bead rings, further protecting the shredding and pyrolysis machinery from damage.

Tire Shredder/Crusher: Following initial separation, the tire shredder cuts whole or pre-cut tires into smaller, manageable pieces. This increases the feedstock's surface area, promoting more consistent and faster heat transfer during pyrolysis.
Rubber Powder Grinder: For customers seeking to run a continuous pyrolysis operation, tires can be processed further into fine rubber powder, which allows for automated, steady feeding into the reactor. For the semi-continuous pyrolysis machine or fuelly automatic pyrolysis equipment, the sizes of rubber powder feedstocks are usually controlled below 18mm.

Pre-treatment for Plastic Pyrolysis
Plastic waste, especially films, bags, and mixed sheets, often has low bulk density and uneven pyrolysis. Pre-treatment addresses this.
Plastic Shredder: A shredder is key. It grinds plastic waste into smaller, uniform flakes or particles. This uniformity is critical for ensuring even heating throughout the pyrolysis batch, preventing clumping, and maximizing the yield and quality of the plastic pyrolysis oil.

Pre-treatment for Oil Sludge Pyrolysis
Oil sludge typically contains a significant amount of water, which consumes extra energy during pyrolysis and can affect pyrolysis oil quality. Pre-treatment of oil sludge for pyrolysis process mainly focuses on moisture reduction, which needed, typically, the moisture content must be controlled to 15–30% or less.
Dewatering Machine: This equipment separates free water and a portion of the bound water from the sludge, effectively reduce the initial water content in oil sludge.

Drying System: Following dewatering, a drying step further lowers the moisture content of oil sludge. Dry oil sludge feedstock allows the pyrolysis reactor to dedicate energy directly to breaking down hydrocarbons, improving thermal efficiency and oil output.

Baling for Volume Reduction
Beyond core material preparation, optimizing storage and reactor loading is also a consideration. Balers offer a solution for compressing materials like tires and plastics into dense bales. This compaction saves space, both for storage and within the pyrolysis reactor itself, thereby improving reactor utilization and allowing for a greater volume of waste to be processed in each batch.

The right pre-treatment method depends entirely on your waste materials and the specific pyrolysis plant model you select. By matching the feedstock preparation to the system's design, it ensures pyrolysis plants operate effectively from the very first step.
